If teachers are the heart of our school, parents and families are the engine. St. Bede school is blessed to have an engaged, active parent community that supports the school in everything from fundraising leadership to class-level activities.
While each year seems to find less space on the family calendar, maintaining a tight-knit community remains important to our school. That’s one of the primary reasons that we ask each family to contribute 30 hours of volunteer time per school year that can be fulfilled through activities like parent board participation, fundraiser committees, in-class opportunities such as reading or small group support, field trips, library, hot lunch, and more. Can’t make it to campus during school hours? We get it. In recent years, the parent board has striven to ensure there are plenty of opportunities that can be handled off-campus and during non-work hours – even hours completed for St. Bede Church count!
We believe that volunteering is about more than supporting the day:day operations of the school. It’s about being present and involved in your child’s education, and building a community spirit that extends beyond the walls of our campus.
In addition to active volunteerism, we ask our families to participate in fundraising activities throughout the school year. The monies raised through our three key fundraisers are essential to our mission of keeping tuition as low as possible to ensure that any family, regardless of income level, may take advantage of the quality, Catholic education St. Bede provides. The generosity of our families has helped ensure this mission for nearly 70 years.
